His mom and sister, "pinning" him. In the olden days, the pins would be attached to your shoulders and collars the backings would be left off. Then your buddies would give you a nice whack, making the pins jab into you. When his mom had put his on, she give it a gentle punch!

what a cool opportunity! i love the accompanying story too. :)
I've already commented but I wanted to add that what I love about the last shot is the contrast between his stern expression and the loving tending of the women. Tells a story. :)
